About

Hi My Name is Chintal Kakaya. chins imageI was born in Mombasa Kenya where I spent most of my childhood surrounded by a close-knit community where food was prepared and shared on many occasions. My love affair with food started from a very young age watching my mum and grandmother prepare delicious traditional Gujarati and International dishes. This passion fuelled even further when I used to observe my mum create fabulous cakes, treats and desserts on special occasions, always “wowed” by how simple ingredients turned into wonderful creations.

At the young age of 12 we moved to the UK where I discovered an abundance of cook books and programmes which helped me learn so many new skills and techniques. Determination and passion allowed me to experiment with recipes. Over the years I became more confident with my skills and knowledge and started to blend flavours and spices in my bakes and desserts to create my own unique twist on classic recipes. These new creations left my guests and family delighted and found myself hosting many Tea and Dinner parties for them. Furthermore, was always asked to share recipes so that they can replicate for their guests.

This led to the birth of Chinskitchen where I share a collection of vegetarian recipes, most with an Indian influence.  Chinskitchen has launched a bespoke range of handcrafted “Indian Inspired Cakes” , a concept where a selection of Indian Mithai’s such as Gulab jamun, Gajar Halwa and Barfi have been transformed and recreated in form of cakes. A fusion of traditional and modern to bring unique cakes to your table whatever the occasion.

“Baking is a niche and to create bakes with spices is quintessentially a niche for Chinskitchen “

  4. hey
Firstly, is there a possibility that I’m the first guy to comment here. Anyway, nice recipes. Not much of a baker myself, but anyway. Always cool to learn some new stuff for when family comes over.
Kenya is definitely on the list of “places to visit before dying” in terms of countries outside Asia.
    Have a great day.
